TAKING THE COMPANY TO THE NATIONAL STAGE: At Highway Transport, I captured the character of a logistics company in business Since 1948. Grateful for the experience of telling the story of professional chemical tanker drivers. Development of content that took the $130 million company to national recognition during National Tanker Truck Driver of the Year competition in 2020 (finalist) , 2021 (winner), and 2022 (finalist). I worked with Highway Transport 2006 to 2009, then I returned to the company for a second stint 2015 to 2023.
2000 to 2005 Ahhh my first foray into creating website graphics as part of a team of four; We launched 4 corporate websites + special product launch sites + interactive online tools for the healthcare industry. We are friends to this day! What an experience to learn about multinational corporate culture. DeRoyal paid for me to get my MBA. Such good coworkers, such hard work. We took training class trips together...NYC, San Diego. We were always sooo "cutting edge" and making sure DeRoyal stayed ahead of the latest web trends.
1992 to 2000...such a magical time to be a graphic designer on campus. Everything from using the Internet for work to “the Peyton Era” helped me transition fully into the mindset of “digital media first, then print projects afterward.” My office was on the third floor (no elevator) of the historic Tyson Alumni House. Most of my projects were centered around events to recognize large donations. I designed beautiful print pieces but then I launched the very first UT Alumni website. THEN I decided to “go live” by posting video from each event onto the website. That’s when everything began to “click” me into a new career. My very favorite thing to do each day was capture a photo of The Rock at lunchtime then post it on the website.
Tennessee Theatre, Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Mooresburg Community Center, and my favorite of all...Candoro Arts & Heritage Center; these are theorganizations that make my heart skip a beat. Freelance graphic and web development for each one, it brought meaning to my life, especially during times when I was Itrapped on the workplace hampster wheel. Meaningful, passionate work is the best work. As my depression-era grandmother would say, "Work can save you."
